2014 Business Plan Contest Semifinalists
11 AUGUST 2014 — The fourth annual Business Plan Contest was launched in May 2014. This year there are five different tracks, and over 200 teams in total completed their applications. A group of 50 experienced entrepreneurs, investors and scholars examined the applications diligently and selected 52 outstanding teams to advance into the second round. On the afternoon of November 15th, six of the following teams will compete in the Business Plan Contest Finale for a total of $20,000 cash reward in the MIT Stata Center.

Seminar: Legal and Accounting Basics, Digital Marketing
15 JUNE 2014 — MIT-CHIEF is pleased to hold a two-hour seminar focusing on Accounting and Legal Basics and Digital Marketing on Saturday, June 21. In just two hours of the enriched speech, you will gain the finance and accounting savvy you need to plan budget, justify requests and spot legal problems before they get out of hand. You will learn the practical digital marketing skills that will help you make better marketing promotion campaigns.
Seminar: How to Write a Business Plan
11 MAY 2014 — This seminar walks you through the basics of putting your business idea on paper. It teaches the basic content of what is required and gives you help in thinking through some of the issues. It is aimed at folks who have a business idea but need to think through all of the details. It is the information that you need to attract people, money, and clients but it needs to be written. It helps you to describe your product or service, your market and your potential clients. Going through the Business Plan process reveals to you the strengths and weaknesses of your idea and how to improve it. It gives you the confidence to sell your idea to others. This process forces you to think through the critical issues in an organized way and sharpen your business skills. The business plan will help you prepare your roadmap for success.

2013 MIT-CHIEF Business Plan Contest Finale
20 NOVEMBER 2013 — The 2013 MIT-CHIEF Business Plan Contest concluded on November 16 with Jeff Zhang’s hilarious ending “we are young and hungry”. Jeff Zhang is a Co-founder of the Berry Logistics, the 1st prize winner of the 2013 MIT-CHIEF Business Plan Contest.
This year’s business plan contest started in July with 119 contestants, categorized into five tracks—CleanTech, HealthCare, Products/Services, Social Impact, and Web/IT. About half are local startups based in Massachusetts, and the rest originate from around the world.

23 OCTOBER 2012 — MIT-CHIEF TechEX is a technology exhibition held together with MIT-CHIEF, one of the premier conferences in MIT focusing on technology innovation in China. The technology exhibition comprises demos that are intended as real, practical, and interactive proof of the presenters' ideas. The exhibition will allow the more than 600 conference attendees to view and interact first-hand with live prototypes of innovative solutions and ideas and to see leading-edge technology at work. It also provides the demo presenters a wonderful opportunity to discuss the working applications or prototypes with peers and professionals and attract potential collaborations and investors, especially if they are interested in Greater China market. Contest Spotlight: From Ph.D. to CEO
19 SEPTEMBER 2012 — 2011 MIT-CHIEF Business Plan Contest Third Prize winner Ziyan Wu is originally from Guangzhou, China. Upon receiving his bachelor's and master's degrees in Engineering from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China, he began his Ph.D. studies in Computer and Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Albany, NY. Ziyan started his company Azuray with some of his close friends last year in Guangzhou, whose products were aimed at mainstream market in China. His product, FlexVision, is envisioned as a leading provider of 3D scanning, positioning, and coordinate measurement systems to measure large-scale 3D surfaces, and is currently the only major provider in China of this type of targeted solution.
Contest Spotlight: Wodache
07 AUGUST 2012 — Eric Wang, CEO and co-founder of Wodache and 2011 MIT-CHIEF Business Plan Contest second-prize winner, joined us last month to talk about his company and his experiences with MIT-CHIEF.
Born in Jinan China, Eric Yihe Wang moved to the States with his parents at the age of 16. Eric received his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Mathematics from Columbia University. After graduation, he began working at Merrill Lynch as an Investment Banking Analyst. Eric also spent a year and a half in Europe participating in a fellowship program for development studies, which was sponsored by the European Union. It was during his time in Europe that Eric recognized the serious traffic congestion problem in China. Believing there was a market-based solution for the traffic problem in China, he wrote his thesis on a car-sharing concept and started his own business called “Wodache", which translates to "sharing the journey".

15 OCTOBER 2011 — The MIT-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (MIT-CHIEF) is an annually-held conference and high-profile platform for intellectual exchange to foster deeper and broader collaboration between China and the United States in technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. On November 19-20, 2011, leading authorities from academia, industries, enterprises, businesses, and government institutions, from both China and the US, will convene at MIT to deliver presentations and showcase their work.
