Community


We aim to build a multi-dimensional community that connects local companies and startup firms with educators and investors. At the same time, we aim to facilitate the formation of specialized communities for entrepreneurs at different stages or from different fields.

Goals in 2019:

  • Attract start-up teams to register and form a community on our platform.

  • Establish specialized communities and organize meetups for people who are interested in similar fields, such as healthcare, biotechnology, AI, robotics, fin-tech, blockchain, and so on.

  • Organize start-up firm and incubator tours to help early stage entrepreneurs search for help and resources.

  • Organize educational workshops to help people turn their ideas into products and businesses.

  • Organize seminars to stimulate the rising of new ideas, such as introducing cutting-edged technologies and topics with greatest potential.

  • Organize start-up career fairs.


Desired skills and experience:

  • Event planning and organization skills or experience.

  • Multitasking: We will have many exciting events this year. Candidates should have abilities to handle multiple tasks at the same time.

  • Marketing skills: We are seeking individuals with basic marketing skills such as advertisement writing and event photography.

  • Professional background and connections: We prefer candidates with industrial or academic background and connections.

  • Startup experience: Previous startup experience is preferred but not required.

Position Description:

Although there are two main responsibilities, members are not limited to either one of them.

Event Planner

We are looking for prolific and enthusiastic event organizers to plan series events to serve interdisciplinary communities in Boston during 2019. Our goal is to build a community for a specific area such as finance, AI, biotechnology and so on. You will be responsible for organizing meetup events and seminars to serve specific communities and general audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of event planning, marketing, launching and feedback collection.

  • Closely communicate with startups and local partners to understand their concerns.

  • Retain and develop collaborations with educators, investors, incubators, governments, and other related organizations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent in time management and multitasking.

  • Strong analytical skills and creative thinking.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills (either Chinese or English).

  • Experience in events planning and organizing.

  • Enthusiasm in specific areas such as AI, biotechnology, healthcare, finance, robotics ,new materials and energy and so on.

Community Liaison

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with local research institutions and accelerators.

  • Retain and develop relationships from leading innovators, experts, entrepreneurs and Boston-based community organizations.

  • Manage and expand the MIT-CHIEF database of entrepreneurship resources

  • Looking for sponsorship


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Experiences in startup business.

  • Patience, you might need to do some tedious but very important work.

  • Professional background and connections.
